This week started off like a pretty typical week, but by midweek it started to get interesting. My Chief Culinary Consultant and I made battered cod on Ash Wednesday, and I swear I still smell fried fish on random pieces of clothing and in my hair. That smell seriously permeates everything. On Thursday morning we took a little field trip to watch the Penguins practice, which I always thoroughly enjoy. More pro sports teams should open up some of their practices so fans can watch! And then came Friday. Yesterday afternoon I was making a cake for my mom, who requested a dessert to serve for her monthly card club, which she was hosting. About a minute into mixing the frosting the power went out (thanks to the wind blowing a pine tree down over power lines up the street) and did not come back on. I busted out the wooden spoon and elbow grease. It made me think of my grandma and all the things that those ladies did by hand back in the day. But I’m not going to lie… I wanted to kiss my mixer when the power came back on! How was your week?!
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!
